“Life’s piano can only produce the melodies of brotherhood when it is recognised that the black keys are basic, necessary and beautiful as the white keys…”

“Be the change you wish to see”

I think that this quote means that if there is something that you don’t like or wish to change, then you should do it. Always listen to your heart and never stop at what you’re going for.
I picked Martin Luther King Jr.’s quote.
“Life’s pianocan only produce the melodies of brotherhood whn it is recgnized that the black keys are basic, nessacery and beautiful as the white keys.
I think that this means that our society will not work until whites recgonize blacks as equal and just as important.
Life’s piano can only produce the melodies of brotherhood when it is recognised that the black keys are basic, necessary and beautiful as the white keys.
-Martin LUther King.
i think this quote is giving an example that just the way to play the piano you need both types of keys this world is made up of different people and they are all important.
“Life’s piano can only produce the melodies of brotherhood when it is recognised that the black keys are basic, necassary and beautiful as the white keys…”
I think he is saying that the black people are just as important as the white people and that both of those races are both equal and should be treated with equallity.

I think all of the African American people thought that they were somebody else since they were free.
“A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin, and culture is like a tree without roots…”

I think he is saying that history is an important thing that sould be treasured and remembered. It tells of your ancestors and is something to be proud of. During slavery , African Americans keeped their culture alive at a great risk.
” Lifes piano can ony produce the melodies of brotherhood when its recognized that the black keys are basic, necassary and beautiful as the white keys.”

Kwame Nkrumah
“It is my deep conviction that all peoples wish to be free, and that the desire for freedom is rooted in the soul of every one of us.”

“Be the change you want to see”
Mahatna Gandhi
I think that this is good because it shows you that you should not just sit around and let everyone else suffer because they are fighting for you and your rights. Be like Jhon Brown and fight for others freedom. This passage shows that if you really believe, trust, and want something to happen then you should not just sit and wait for someone else to help the right you believe in
I also like the quote…
” life’s piano can only produce the melodies of brotherhood when it is recognized that the black keys are bacic, necessary and beautiful as the white keys…”
Martin Luther King Jr.
I like this quote because it shows how life can not work with out all melodies of the sorrows, joys, and sucesses of every single person in our world. The painting of are world cannot be painted without all the different colors of everyones skin, hair, and eyes. The story of our amazing world cannot be written without the perspective seen through everyones eyes. Overall I think that this quote is very important in everyones perspective of the world.
Martin Luther King
“Lifes piano can only produce the melodies of brotherhood when it is recognised that the black keys are basic, necessary and beautiful as the white keys…”
I think this means that blacks are just as good as whites and we can only be happy when we have realized that. He compares whites to the big white piano keys and blacks to the skinny black ones.
” Life’s piano can only produce the melodies of brotherhood when it is recognised that the black keys are basic, necessary and beautiful as the white keys….”
I think this means that the whites and the blacks should be equel, they should be treated equel, and they have the right to be together. Also the blacks are just as good as the whites.
“Life’s piano can only produce the melodies of brotherhood when it is recognised that the black keys are basic, necessary and beautiful as the white keys…”
I thought that this quote was very ispiring because it tells us that none of us are more important than one another and that we deserve to all be treated nicely and how we would treat others.
“Life’s piano can only produce the melodies of brotherhood when it is recognised that the black keys are basic, necessary and beautiful as the white keys…”
I think this means that there is one world, the piano and it is full of blacks and whites (keys) and when you play all the keys together, you make a beautiful song. I think that the world should be equal and not to only play white key songs but to share and be equal and play black and white key songs and to make it beautiful. We are all equal!
Anisa Threlkeld
“Be the change you wish to be!”
-Mahtma Gandi
I think this quote means that you can choose to make a change in the world,or you can choose not to.You don’t have to speak out and try to change something if you don’t want to. What I think he is saying is that you should choose what you think is right. You can help make the world a better place, like he did, but it is always your choice to make that change, and it is up to you to do it.
“I looked at my hands to see if I was the same person now I was free. There was such glory over everything, the sun came like gold through the trees, and over the fields, and I felt like I was in heaven… I had crossed the line of which I had so long been dreaming. I was free.”
Harriet Tubman’s quote was expressing her feelings of being free, and what it feels like to dream about somthing all your life and then finaly get it. When Harriet Tubman crossed the line she probably felt like she was another person. Actualy she kind of was. She wasn’t a slave anymore…
she was free.
Martin Luther King said, “Life’s piano can only produce the melodies of brotherhood when it is recognised that the black keys are basic, necessary and beautiful as the white keys.”
I think this means that without the black keys, you couldn’t play the beautiful songs that we play today. Without African Americans, we would be selfish. They tought us how to be respectful of one another. They have tought us not to judge people by the way they look.
We owe them many thanks!!!!!
It is my deep conviction that all peoples wish to be free, and that the desire for freedom is rooted in the soul of every one of us.”
I think what he means by the quote is that everyone wants to be, black or white, because everyone has the right to be free. I also think he means by “… the desire for freedom is rooted in the soul of every one of us.” is that even if youare a slave no one has the right to say that can’t be free it’s just saying that you belong to someone that has authority over you. And I chose this quote because it has a good meaning that I can see that really gets along over this unit about slavery, that really does trigger people to think this way about things like this.

Marcus Garvey
“A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture, is like a tree without roots…”
I think this means that when a tree dosen’t have roots it will fall down so if a country dosen’t have any roots (history) then they will fall down and break out in war.
“Life’s piano can only produce the melodies of brotherhood when it is recognised that the black keys are basic, necessary and beautiful as the white keys…”
I think this means without the whole world it couldn’t be as beautiful as it could be now.
“Different in race, in colour, in history, we can teach the world that, although thus differing, it is possible for us to dwell side by side in love, in peace and in material prosperity… The highest test of the civilisation of any race is its willingness to extend a helping hand to the less fortunate…”
-Brooker T. Washington
I like this quote because you can tell that he really believed that one day the world would change and those of different race, color, and in history would come together and learn to love each other for who they are, and not what’s on the outside. i think that this is a strong and important quote for all it means and people WOULD come together one day, and it happened!!
I think that this links to Bob Marley about standing up for your rights (not the quote we had, but a song) and making things happen for the better of yourself and others.
“Be the change you wish to see”
This is saying what a lot of people say “treat others like you want to be treated”Tthis means treat the slave bad if you want to be treated badly. treat the slave good if you want the slave to like you.
Martin Luthar King
“Life’s piano can only produce the melodies of brotherhood when it is recognised that the black keys are basic, necessary and beautiful as the white keys…”
I think it means that black people are as good as white people. There is one world that black people and white people share like white keys and black keys share a piano.
Marcus Garvey
“A people without the knowledge of their past history, orgin and culture, is like a tree without roots”. I think what he is trying to say is if you don’t know your families history, orgin, or culture you don’t were your family came from you don’t know anything about where your family is from you basically don’t know where your from. I think Marcus must think it is very important to know your families history.

“Life’s piano can only produce the melodies of brotherhood when it is recognised that the black keys are basic, nessecary and beautiful as the white keys……” -Martin Luther King Junior
I think that MLK is trying to say that were all equal and that black people are exactly the same as white people and should have the same rights.
“Life’s piano can only produce the melodies of brotherhood when it is recognised that the black keys are basic, necessary and beautiful as the white keys.”
I think this quote means that life is nothing without white and black people living together in peace.
“Life’s piano can only produce the melodies of brotherhood when it is recognised that the black keys are basic, necessary and beautiful as the white keys…”
I think that means that life is like a piano and all the keys of the pioano are equal and important to everything that is in he world or in the piano case the music. I think it means that weather they realized it back then or not, all men really were created equal and that everyone plays a kee role in life and without differnt personalities, and differences the world would be boring.
I think that means that u can’t just sit around waiting for something u want to happen to happen. The world can’t read ur mind, and even if they could, how do you know they will care? So if you want to see something happen, make happen YOURSELF. I think that quote is very inspiring!
“Life’s piano can only produce the melodies of brotherhood when it is recognized that the black keys are basic, necessary and beautiful as the white keys”
-Martin Luther King
I think that he means that no one should be treated differently because of their skin color, that in the end it does not matter.

“I looked at my hands to see if I was the same person now I was free. There was such glory over everything, the sun came like gold through the trees, and over the fields, and I felt like I was in heaven… I had crossed the line of which I had so long been dreaming. I was free.”
What Harriet Tubman is saying is that she is finally free! She felt like a different person, a free person. She felt like she was in heaven, a place where no one is enslaved.
It is my deep conviction that all peoples wish to be free, and that the desire for freedom is rooted in the soul of every one of us.”
I thinkit means that the person says they were born to be free and that no one is different. We all have something good about use and when your a slave you can’t show it.
“A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture, is like a tree without roots…”
What this quote is trying to say is that your past histoy, origin, and culture help you to know what to do in to present and future. To learn from mistakes in the past, to know how you live, and how you came to be there. Without these things, it would be harder to survie in the everyday world , expecialy with desisions.
“Lifes piano can only produce the melodies of brotherhood when it is recognised that the black keys are basic, necessary and beautiful as the white keys.”
-Martin Luther King
I think that this quote means that on a piano theirs different melodies and in life theirs different kinds of people also different colors like a piano and so martin luther king
“A Person without the knoledge of there past history, origin and culture, is like a tree without roots.”
I think this means that if you don’t learn from your mistakes in the past it will be harder to live a normal life. I think that what he is trying say by saying, ” like a tree without roots.” is that it will be very challenging to live if you don’t learn from others mistakes.
During my lifetime I have dedicated my life to the struggle of the African people. I have fought against white domination and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons live together in harmony with equal opportunities. It is an ideal which I hope to live for, and to see realised. But if needs be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die. ”
I think what Mendela was tring to say was that she had to live with the black and the white and she believes in having real harmony. She will die to have an equal and a free world. Without these kind of women in our history we would have not had the same input on histoy wtih out them today.
I think when Ghandi said that he meant that for the people that wanted change to make the change. You have to “be” the change to see it. You have to make it happen if you want change.
“Life’s piano can only produce the melodies of brotherhood when it is recognised that the black keys are basic, necessary and beautiful as the white keys…”
I think that this means that in life if you don’t accept everyone for who they are you will miss the small things, and all the things that make life worth living if you spend your time judging people. And, the best times in life come when everyone joins together as one.
ok i”m continuing my other one. I think Martin luther king said that the black keys were normal because he was referring to the slaves and how white people didn’t think much of them.
martin
Lifes piano can only produce the melodies of brotherhood when it is reconised that the black keys are basic necessary and beautiful as the white keys

I think this means that no matter what our race we can always be together and that everybody should lend a hleping hand to the needy.
“Be the change you wish to be!”
-Mahtma Gandhi
I think this quote means that you can choose to make a change in the world, but you can choose not to. People that have made the world a better place, choose to,and no one told them to. you can change something if you wish, and it is up to you to make that change.
About my other entry, i liked this quote because i think it has a lot of meaning. i think it means that just shes so happy to be free, that there is no other way to say it.
“Life’s piano can only produce the melodies of brotherhood when it is recognised that the black keys are basic, necessary and beautiful as the white keys…”
I think it means that all people are equal and whites are just as good as blacks
all people both whites and blacks are just as important and can do the same things and without one everything doesn’t work right.
“Life’s piano can only produse the melodies of brotherhood when it is recognised that the black keys are basic, necessary and beautiful as the white keys…” -Martin Luther King

Harriet Tubman
“I looked at my hands to see if I was the same person now I was free. There was such glory over everything, the sun came like gold through the trees, and over the fields, and I felt like I was in heaven… I had crossed the line of which I had so long been dreaming. I was free.”
Harriet Tubman’s quote was expressing her feelings of being free, and what it feels like to dream about somthing all your life and then finaly get it. When Harriet Tubman crossed the line she probably felt like she was another person. Actualy she kind of was. She wasn’t a slave anymore…
she was free.

i think what mlk meant was that african americans were as important as whites.
October 3rd, 2007 at 6:56 pm

“A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture, is like a tree without roots…”

-Brooker T. Washington
I like this quote because you can tell that he really believed that one day the world would change and those of different race, color, and in history would come together and learn to love each other for who they are, and not what’s on the outside. i think that this is a strong and important quote for all it means and people WOULD come together one day, and it happened!!

This is saying what a lot of people say “treat others like you want to be treated”Tthis means treat the slave bad if you want to be treated badly. treat the slave good if you want the slave to like you.

I chose the quote by Mahatma Gandhi-
“BE the change u with too see.”
I think that means that u can’t just sit around waiting for something u want to happen to happen. The world can’t read ur mind, and even if they could, how do you know they will care? So if you want to see something happen, make happen YOURSELF. I think that quote is very inspiring!

What Harriet Tubman is saying is that she is finally free! She felt like a different person, a free person. She felt like she was in heaven, a place where no one is enslaved.
